Yesterday I was taking down my G5RV antenna that I was using during Field Day. As I was pulling down the antenna a piece of bark from the tree that I had placed it in and lodged in my eye.
The wife said that it was no larger than a piece of sand.
She immediately rinsed it out with water but boy, oh boy did it hurt. I could hardly see to drive home (about 12 miles). We went to the pharmacy and got some eye drops and then I closed my eyes (slept) for several hours. I got up later and my eye felt better, but still hurt and it was blurry. (This IS my dominate eye.) I suffered through a TV program and went to bed.
This morning my eye is feeling better, but it is still blurry from the drops (pharmacist said it would be, so nothing alarming).
But, I'm not carrying today since my vision's impaired enough to cause my aim to be off if needed.
Hopefully tomorrow my eye will be back to normal, if not... I'll not carry then either.

I'm trying to be responsible...

I did that once when I was using a router, after 2 days of not feeling better I went to the doctor and he rolled my eye lid up on a q-tip and with a magnifying glass found a tiny little splinter stick in my eye lid. He taught me to pull my eye lid down over thebottm one and let it slid back up and it can pull out a splinter. FYI.....

I'm not very good at non-dominant eye shooting either, but I do see a lot of folks post about how important it is to learn. This could be one of those examples of why we should practice with weak hand/non-dominant eye drills.kw5kw wrote:But, I'm not carrying today since my vision's impaired enough to cause my aim to be off if needed.

Be a shame if you needed your carry on a day that you didn't have it for such a reason.

My right eye used to be my dominant eye. I suffered an injury after a severe assault, and my right eye's vision became lessened. My dominance transferred to my left eye after a few weeks or so.
So worst case scenario: Even if your eye doesn't heal all the way, you'll be fine; the human brain can adapt quite wel.
