Re: Carry Options ?
i think Collectors Firearms in Houston carries something like that. i might pay them a visit this weekend. last time i went , i wasnt specifically looking for holsters, but i noticed they had a very large selection of them.Mithras61 wrote:I'm a shorts & T-shirts sort of guy also. I carry a Springfield Armory XD-45 Compact in a CompTac Shirt Tucker. I'm "fluffy" enough that the added size of the combo doesn't really require me to go up a full 2 inches, but a little extra room in the waist makes it much more comfortable. I have tried the CompTac Belt Holster as well, and it works pretty well, so long as I don't need to get at anything in my hip pocket on that side. I've worn it out a few times and even my wife & eldest son (who check me for printing regularly) didn't know I was carrying. The OWB solution FEELS like it's printing to me, but apparently no one else notices.

Pics, as promised.
Not home yet, but managed to mspaint em together :)

Tucker Answer Holster
Colt Combat Elite full size 1911
I also have a Kimber UC II that I carry in the same holster (beauty of 1911s, fits one, fits all
)
I'll primarially carry the kimber daily because the grip does not stick our as bad when I bend. Also it has a freakin laser!

This is a good reply that says it all.stroo wrote:I wear shorts and tee shirts all the time using a Hume JIT OWB holster usually with a Hipower but sometimes with a Glock 26. I don't have any problems printing that I am aware of.
I am OWB unless I need to shoulder carry. IWB or tucked is my LAST resort.
Obey these 4 rules for conceal & I will assure you no one will know.
1. Quality belt & holster.
2. Put it on.
3. Cover it up (T-shirt is OK. I do in the summer.)
4. Leave it alone!!! (It aint broke so dont keep fixin it.)
No one will know.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

usa1,
If you are looking for OWB carry, you won't have any problems if you are using a descent holster. I carry a S&W 908 in a Side Gaurd Holsters OWB Slide. Dress is jeans, plain white t-shirt under an untucked button up shirt. Haven't had any problems that I'm aware of. OWB is no problem.
IWB plays a good role in CC too. I up'd some of my pants 2" in the waist to accomodate IWB carry, it does make it more comfortable.

PS - I don't hear much about Side Guard Holsters on this site, he's a small outfit. He makes a great product at a very fair price. http://www.sideguardholsters.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Six for sure.
Re: Carry Options ?
If you like the cross draw - D.M. Bullard makes a really good one for OWB. I have one for my Smith 360PD - pulls the gun in tight, retention is great. Also have a strong side OWB from Bullard - but I am using the cross draw a lot more. His prices are good - wait period is about three weeks which is really not bad at all. Re: Carry Options ?
I believe the nylon Uncle Mikes has its place. But its not an ideal primary carry, one of the problems Ive had with mine is that an agressive draw can pull both the gun and the holster off the belt. I still use one as a small of the back carry if I'm doing a lot of walking and want to pack my 92fs.

Yep and it is in my loaner holster bag for Houston Area Women classes. So when you have found your replacements for your nylon holsters PM me and I will tell tell you where to send them as a donation to the classes!Liberty wrote:I believe the nylon Uncle Mikes has its place.
Thank you very much. This is a serious request. I don't get paid anything for running these classes and so having sufficient equipment for beginner shooters can be challenging.
Okay back to the subject of the thread. I carry OWB in either a Comp-tac holster or a Tucker holster otherwise it is in my purse. I have heard there are man purses. You guys should give them a try.

Re: Carry Options ?
I started with IWB and found it to be no problem to conceal a Glock 17. I prefer OWB and with the proper choice of holster (and suitable belt) a tshirt seems to be sufficient for concealment.
I've just received a Bullard bodyguard and find it holds the gun tight to the body and should do well for concealed carry:
http://www.dmbullardleather.com/1429711.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
For IWB I've been using the MTAC: http://www.comp-tac.com/product_info.php?products_id=95" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and sometimes a High Noon: http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product ... asset.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Both work well, The MTAC is bulkier but doesn't move around much; The High Noon is smaller, softer, more comfortable but doesn't stay in place as well.
I actually like shoulder holsters, but its way too hot in central texas for those :-)
