Welcome Streaker!

Sit down and join the rest of us in the 'endless wait'

From reports in the other threads, January and February, the average time right now is >100 days, especially if you are in Harris county.

Check the rest of the forums out, there's LOTS of good information for CHL's, including lots of 'what would you have done' discussion on news stories. I find those to be very informative.
Enjoy your stay, and hope your wait isn't too long!

Just some info based on what DPS told me for military. I called and said I do not have my DD214, the representative told me just to copy my Honorable Discharge Diploma the one you put in a frame and put on your wall and mail it in. So far I have not had any letters or snags in regards to the military issue.

The form I sent in is the DD256 and so far it is working.

Also too on the DD256 the two letters after it are going to represent your branch of service. For example DD256AF or DD256MC.

My 214 I sent them didn't have the Honorable code on it (I sent them the wrong one, doh!) So I sent them the RIGHT one, along with my AF256 (My form says 'Form AF 256', no mention of 'DD256' on it at all)
Hopefully both of those should decently suffice

Those forms probably have changed along with some of the codes. I lost my mind for a minute and actually thought the government did things in an organized and uniformed manner that makes sense. Regardless that thing you get that looks like a diploma that says honorable discharge that you hang in your office should work.

I'm almost positive I've received my PIN by now, but it will be sent to my house in Texas and I won't be home until the end of the month. Plus I'm pretty sure my father opened it and forgot...oh well, I know if I can check the status online I'll do it too much

I was born overseas while my dad was serving in the Army. Am I to expect a delay while DPS requests a copy of my Birth Certificate from the State Dept or wherever they get it from? I included a copy of my current U.S. Passport as proof of citizenship with my app. Will this suffice for the Birth Certificate? Just curious.

as long as you put a copy of your us passport, you have nothing to worry about.
