Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
I just picked up a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster for a Kel tec. Got it home, and when I draw the pistol the holster comes out with it everytime! I thought these were suppose to not be able to come out when you draw? Anyone else have this issue? Way to resolve it? I know my pockets on my shorts are big, but this holster should be able to stay in the pocket when I draw.
I never had a pocket holster before, but with summer in full swing, I decided I wanted to try it. Thought it would work good with shorts. I guess not.

Re: Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
Give the holster a chance to break in. I have three Nemesis holsters and they all needed a little pocket time to take a set to the gun and loosen up some. I love mine.

I don't have a problem with either my .38 S&W snubbie or my Sig p-230 in their respective pocket holsters...during practice. In a real gunfight, I may have all sorts of problems...in my britches.
Re: Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
I am definetly not grabbing the holster, I am leaving my gun in the holster while at home, so It can break in a little. Hopefully it will work itself out.
Re: Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
I have a Desantis Nemesis for my S&W 638. I haven't received my license yet but I'm using it around the house to get used to it. No problems from the first day I used it, stays right in the pocket and doesn't shift as I move about. The snubbie "sleeps" in the holster in my bedside table at night so it's in the holster all the time...and, unfortunately, has to stay there while I'm at work.

I use a Nemesis with my PM9. Depending on the type of fabric your pants are made out of it may be 'slicker' than say denim or another material. I sometimes have to use my middle finger to hold against the holster as I draw the pistol, so just use this tactic anytime I am drawing from the pocket. If that method doesn't work for you, you might try their Superfly holster as it will hold in the pocket better.

My favorite pocket holster is the kydex Fist #K5. It doesn't twist around in the pocket, and the lip at the top of the inside panel is designed to provide a surface for the thumb to push against during the draw to make sure the gun comes out without the holster. It works great and does an outstanding job of masking the outline of the gun. Used with cargo shorts or pants, it's an extremely low profile and easily accessible way to carry.Keith B wrote:I use a Nemesis with my PM9. Re: Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
When drawing I try and put a little sideways pressure and push the holster against the outside pocket material, helps the holster stick and make sure the holster stays in my pocket. I carry an SP101 in mine, I even bought and killed holster to make sure that if the worst happens and could fire while the firearm was still in the holster!

I carry a LCP in a DeSantis as a BUG. When I got them, I broke in my DeSantis by unloading the LCP and then just sat and played with it while I was reading an article or something. I'd just pull it in and out, in and out, in and out, and now the pistol slides out very nicely.
When pulling the pistol out of the pocket, it slides out without resistance and the holster stays put.

Re: Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
Would pinning the holster to the inside of the pocket be a solution to the problem? I mean, like with a safety pin, push it through the extreme edge of the holster to the bottom of the pocket, from inside the pants leg.
I know....it sounds dorky doesn't it?

Re: Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
Thanks for all the input, but I believe it had to do with just the style of shorts I was wearing. I tried it today, I am wearing jeans, and it works perfectly. Now jeans are not ideal for pocket carry, but I think it was just cause my shorts were very "loose" and the pockets were pretty big. I may just have to pay closer attention to the type of shorts or pants I am wearing to use this holster.

or use the Redneck solution "A loop of duct tape to make holster stick to pocket"

Re: Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
I use the Nemesis to carry my Ruger LCP, inside the pants waistband, and love it. However after about 6 mts of use the stickiness of the rubber coating isn't sticky any longer and the holster comes out with the gun.
Any ideas how to restore it?

Re: Nemesis-Does not stay in pocket
I found the same issue with the Nemesis. I changed to the Fist K5 Pocket Holster that is made of very thin Kydex. It has a rolled over lip at the top for applying thumb pressure as you draw to keep the holster from coming out with the gun. It works like a charm and doesn't wear out.Sixgees wrote:I use the Nemesis to carry my Ruger LCP, inside the pants waistband, and love it.
