Weapons Training??

I'm considering taking an advanced pistol tactics/ self defense course.

The reason I'm posting is I would like to hear from any members here who have undergone something of this nature....I'd like to hear what you thought of the classes....whether you deemed it worth the time and cost. Also, possibly a brief rundown of where you took it, what the class covered, etc etc....

There is a place in McKinney that does a 3 tiered pistol course. I'm considering hitting them up.

Anyways, I hope to hear some responses, and thanks in advance

My husband and I are graduates of Thunder Ranch Pistol and Team Tactics. I don't think you can get any better training anywhere. Outstanding training and facility. I suggest you go to the website for Thunder Ranch Oregon for course descriptions. It is farther and perhaps more costly but you WILL get every penny's worth.

I've heard tons of great things about Thunder Ranch. I've never checked out their website until today, but it certainly does seem to be everything I've ever heard about it. Thanks for the recommendation, but I was hoping to get some feedback about some facilities within 100-200 miles of where I'm from (Sherman Texas).

I've taken some pistol courses and recommend the training to anyone. The training has help me to have more confidence with my weapon, and to have more situational awareness.

I've taken defensive pistol and fighting pistol classes with Tiger Valley and Tactical Response. Tiger Valley was a bit more slow paced and a good place to start. Tactical Response was much more intensive and adrenalin packed. You'll do things that you wouldn't believe that you were capable of. That was my epiphany. It wasn't learning what I couldn't do but rather what I was indeed capable of doing.

FWIW, Tiger Valley has a 2-day Level 1 pistol class coming up on July 18-19 in Waco.

Tactial Training.. I have watched one of their videos in the past but that is as far as I have gone. I have not attended the classes, so I can't say anything. I guess personalities play a big role, and Mr. Yeager seems a bit cocky.. Then again Bruce Lee was a bit cocky too, and was a very good fighter and teacher.

And while I agree that the 4 basic rules were not broken, you could not pay me enough to be the photographer.

His classes are pretty good and can be intense, and you're right, he's cocky.

And yes, I saw the video. After being to the classes, I didn't see anything horrid about it though I can understand how some could get a bit twisted without actually being there. Besides the various shooting line drills, there's team training, individual accuracy drills, use of concealment and the like. There is plenty of time to evaluate the ability of your classmates and any drills that the participants feel uncomfortable with, they can decide to skip them, no questions asked.
