HB 89 went into effect one year ago today, legalizing the bearing of firearms into restaurants that serve alcohol, state parks, and mass transit. At the time that HB 89 passed, many dire and hysterical predictions were made as to the likely consequences of legally armed citizens in these locations.

To answer the question of "how long?": apparently more than a year. Go read the whole article -- it has some good examples of hysterical predictions that did not come to pass. We should have some of these on hand for Texas...

Texas had the blood in the streets hysteria when the CHL law originally passed and we see it again when people talk about open carry or schools.
