I have done it, I confess. BUT the only time was the Nork I just bought from HV & he had already verified it reliable to my satisfaction.

All guns are paper weights in my eyes until they've proven to be functional and reliable at the range. I will not even carry a gun after cleaning it until it's been test fired again. I rotate carry guns.
Range session involving carry gun(s), clean gun, next range session, test fire previously cleaned gun and assuming it's functioning normally, it goes back in the carry rotation.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961
