Current Utah processing times?

Post by jamullinstx »

Submitted my Utah application in late February, but due to a detected credit card fraud incident my issuer closed the account and reissued the card under a different number, literally 1 day before BCI tried to charge the card in late March. I was a bit frustrated that they didn't use the phone number information on the application to contact me to get the new number, choosing to mail the packet back to me, instead. I cut a cashier's check and resent the packet to them on 04 April. With the close of July, I still have no Utah permit. Any idea what the current processing time is? IIRC, they are statutorily required to issue within 60 days.

Well, I can answer my own question, now. They are taking between 4-4.5 mos. However, the letter supplied with the permit states that it is contingent upon passing a FBI criminal background check. I presume this means that to clear their backlog they are issuing permits without the final disposition from the FBI check.

Gads, that's bizarre. But they have their backlog problem, just as we do.

if we are a Texas CHL, do we simply apply and go through another background check for the Utah plastic?

No, you also have to take a Utah class, just like you did for Texas.
