Honey Island hunting lease - 1 family slot

Post by Mike1951 »

I joined this lease back in March, but due to health, will not be able to hunt.

Lease manager has allowed me until the end of August to find someone to use my slot.

Approx. 2500 acres near Honey Island in southeast Texas.

Would need to setup stands and feeders right away. May have two box stands and one bow stand near one of your box stands.

Year round lease. Renews March 1st.

$575 or trade for handgun of comparable value.

What all can you hunt and how many can you bring? Also how many others are there? Thanks.

I believe there are 25 members. Since it's a family lease, I can't know how many hunters.

Obviously, deer, hog, and squirrel. There is no night hunting. 2 bucks and 1 doe allowed per family.

This is a year round lease, with members spending many weekends camping, cooking out and riding ATV's.

There are no guests allowed from October 1st - January 20th. Two guests are allowed the rest of the year, but guests may not hunt or have firearms.

But I could take my immediate family to camp and ride? Also where is Honey Island? Never had a lease so please pardon my questions.

The deer count is way below the state limit but I guess he has his reasons.

Is the hog hunting year round? How is it managed? Does the ranch manager carve out a section for each family or is it scheduled?
