Several sites that advocate for open carry and discuss the topic of WI open carry strongly recommend that you carry a recorder and a copy of the relevant statutes and rulings precisely because many municipalities (like Milwaukee & Racine) try to enforce their own interpretation of the laws despite contrary rulings from the state Supreme Court. I have a few family members there, and they have indicated that they carry voice recorders even when they go out hunting because of the possibility (likelihood) of being harassed if they stop for gas, beverages or whatever anywhere except their hunting destination or their home.jsimmons wrote:I posted a response to this on OpenCarry.org, and I managed to piss off a whole bunch of people. Evidently, everybody (their words, not mine) that carries in WI carries a tape recorder and pamphlets. When I suggested that baiting the cops was stupid, they came up with some lame response saying the cops should have recognized it as such, and blah blah blah. They also inferred that since I live in Texas - a non open-carry venue - I'm not qualified to comment.
I choose to keep my opinions on open carry in WI, baiting cops and the original post to myself.
