concealed carry at state hospital

Post by ntexaschl »

Hello Forum.
Please forgive me if this topic has been covered... a hasty search provided no links. My job will soon require that I frequently enter the grounds of the local state hospital (North Texas State Hospital) here in WF. Posted at the entrance of the grounds, is a fairly large white faded sign. Paraphrased, the wording on the sign indicates that firearms (concealed handguns included) are not allowed on the premises. The sign is not even close to being 30.06 compliant. Am I prevented from concealed carry at this hospital? I looked at PC. 46.035 (b) (4). Would this apply?

Thanks for the input.

You have to continue reading and not stop at 46.035 (b) (4). See section (i)

"(i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor
was not given effective notice under Section 30.06."

So unless the sign meets 30.06, you are OK to carry.

If it is not posted, why?

Also, be aware that this is a double thread.

what about a "mental hospital"... like Rusk State Hospital?
It's not gun control that we need, it's soul control!

The only thing I could say to this is that the statutes don't make the distinction.

Since the hospital is not properly marked under 30.06 remember these items:

1. Concealed means concealed.

2. Even a fish wouldn't get in trouble if he kept his mouth shut.
(Don't mention to ANYONE that you pack).

Happy Trails.

My apologies to all for this double thread, I hadn't realized that I had made a double thread. Thanks to all for their input. I'll carry with caution as always, and I'll tell no one.
