Couple of RKBA mentions. He's still on our side.KD5NRH wrote:May cover some 2A issues, maybe not. Most likely will be dominated healthcare, auditing the Fed, and energy.

It's been years since I ran across anybody who'd read that much ERB. I geeked out a little more over the Pellucidar books, myself.John Carter (The rep, not the guy on Mars) tonight
I will add, as a fifth circumstance in the situation of the House of Representatives, restraining them from oppressive measures, that they can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as on the great mass of the society. - J Madison, Federalist #57

I'm hoping to find a set before my daughter hits the reading age. That, and most of H. Rider Haggard's books would be better than a fair bit of the junk I've seen in the "young readers" sections.Chip wrote:It's been years since I ran across anybody who'd read that much ERB. I read the "Princess of Mars" in one, long sitting. Best book I have ever read.
I read everything EXCEPT the Tarzan novels.

I've spent a few long night shifts reading Project Gutenberg etexts. It's one of the few sites that I can use to kill more time than Wikipedia.GaryAdrian wrote:I read the "Princess of Mars" in one, long sitting. Best book I have ever read.

Has an extensive FREE Sci-Fi selection to read online.
Keeps me busy when not making inane posts or doing things like work.
I too read the Warlord of Mars stuff when I was younger. It was entertaining.

Some of the early volumes were being republished. I have 1-7 currently, I think. I have to dig through the 300+ books on the shelves. I loved that series in High School. If they don't botch it, which we can be assured Hollywood likely will with their PC drivel, there is this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401729/KD5NRH wrote:I'm hoping to find a set before my daughter hits the reading age. Re: John Carter (The rep, not the guy on Mars) tonight
You know, those books were all very similar - manly hero gets transported by questionable means to a lost/remote world, where he battles incredible odds and strange beasts to win the beautiful girl..... I couldn't get enough of them. I made it through maybe one or two of the Tarzan books, but went through the entire series of the others - Mars, Venus, Pellucidar, a plateau in Africa, Antarctica.... did I miss one? And I still remember the one phrase found in almost all those books.... "thus easily does Man throw off the thin veneer of civilization...." and (on topic) the hero usually had a great rifle.
