No comment. I don't understand California or it's voting public. :banghead:

Considering who pulls Arnie's strings (The Kennedys) I am not surprised. I am disappointed, though.

They (CA gov't) keep trying to regulate criminal behavior with laws. Any thinking person knows that laws won't work, because criminals don't obey them.

It's really so simple that even a young child can understand it, but people who have had following rules ingrained in their behavior simply can't get a handle on it. In fact, I suspect that its very simplicity is part of the root of peoples' inability to understand it (criminal violence being a complex problem, it obviously requires a complex solution, right?).

I feel sorry for the people of CA, because they simply can't grasp that their criminal violence problem cannot be addressed with more laws designed to restrict access to implements of violence for the law abiding.

More laws that no one will be able to enforce and a database that is useless. It doesn't make much sense to me, but it is Kalifornia! In reading the comments that follow, a few think this is a great idea. Now the gang bangers won't be able to buy ammo. It is really is amazing, but very sad.:txflag:

Though Schwarzenegger vetoed a similar bill in 2004, saying the federal government’s attempt at similar legislation proved to be “unworkable and offered no public safety benefit,” the governor today said that De Leon’s bill struck a fair balance between public safety and didn’t put undue burdens on bullet vendors and firearms dealers.
The governator must be up for re-election?

With all their financial troubles, how do they intend to finance such a system?

I suspect they will be counting on a grant from the Feds. Yes sir, you and I will likely get to pay for this experiment in states regulating interstate commerce.

*edited to clarify my confusion on what authority states have to regulate interstate commerce.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

This is definitely bad news as far as my company is concerned b/c we have a lot of customers in CA. The good thing though is that we (in other states) will have more ammo available to us in the future. In the short-term though there might be more shortages, since the law doesn't go into effect until 2011 and CA gun owners will be hoarding like crazy.

I saw an article a few weeks ago where Cabela's was saying that if this passes, they will NOT do business in CA.

Sad to hear it (understandable though). Sad because I believe that is exactly what the California legislature is trying to do (force gun/ammo dealers out of business).

Yes I think that's been the anti's new strategy as opposed to banning guns...restricting/banning of ammo is just as bad....

"Guns and Ammo" magazine just left California because of their anti-gun nonsense.
