Sons Christmas Gift

Post by Keith »

Told him he couldnt have it until Christmas. We were looking for a lever action in 44 or 357. The very last table we saw at the gun show has a stainless 357 magnum Marlin rifle. I know the 44 is probably a better idea but I love stainless for its ability to last forever and its for my 12 year old son. He loves cowboy guns. I had a video up a few weeks ago of him shooting his single action ruger pistol at Elm Fork Range. He is bouncing off the walls but understands he has to wait. I told him he cant even look at it. We spend to much on our kids but this young man has earned this.

My goodness! That's a beauty. I'd be bouncing off the walls myself. I love the stainless. It really makes it look nice and you're right about it lasting forever. He'll be able to hand it down to his children in a few decades. What a Merry Christmas!

Nice looking gun! It sounds like a great choice for him, so I can understand his excitement. The real question is, can you wait until then?!

Have you figured out if Elm Fork is open on Christmas Day? I think Garland Public Shooting Range actually may be open on the 25th.

I would love to match my Marlin 30-30 with this puppy! Oh, well. Maybe someday!

Seriously Keith, great job in picking this one out. I am certain your young man will absolutely love it. Thanks for passing the heritage on.

Oh, ABSOLUTELY! But 3 or 4 actually. Plinking, target range, S.D., black gun, hunting gun. Not to mention 3 or 4 shotty's for the same reason. ;-) And oh. The same goes for pistols, but multiply that X 2.

Lever guns are great. I just watched an episode of "Shooting Gallery" on the Sportsman channel...it was all about using Lever guns as a HD weapon (carbine). Made me think about getting one myself.

That's a great Christmas present. I remember the rifle and shotgun my dad gave me when I was younger...still have them both and cherish every time I go to the range with them.

I too have a son... and a grandson that's 15. My son has given up on the chance of ever taking possession of my collection....his son's (my grandson) most frequently used phrase in the last couple of years is "That one is MINE, when you die, Pappy". I almost dread showing him newly acquired guns...it reminds me that the clock is ticking :eek6

Yes I know they grow up to fast and we age the same. Great feeling though that I'm sure you have giving your collection to your family. I know it fills me with pride. Have you given the speech about this is your sniper rifle, this is for small game, this is for self defense, this is just fun to shoot ,this is for large game
