Hammer,

Requesting your expressed permission to repurpose your entire post as an email to some friends/family who don't necessarily agree with you (or me) on many of these issues. Will keep your name, even your board name, out of it, of course.

Let me know. Thanks.

AR,
you and/or anyone else who would like to use all or a portion of my post for any reason are certainly welcome to.

I am humbled and honored that you find any of it of enough value that you would desire to use any portion of it to share.

Thank you for that.

And thanks to everyone for the kind and encouraging responses. I really just needed to speak from my heart today...and validation is always a nice thing.

Have you considered sending that letter to your Congressman/woman and State Rep. You have stated what so many of us feel who are not so good with words. Thank you for taking the time and God bless you.

I agree with how Hammer feels and I commend you Hammer for growing up, identifying the fact that you can control your own mind, and taking control of it. I too was raised one way and now in life I am challenging all that exists just because I choose NOT to accept things the way I am told but more for the way they are - and I am an Engineer by nature. I reverse engineer the crap out of everything I do and see. This helps me to understand WHY and not just accept that which I am seeing or being told.

I also wish more people would grow up like you Hammer and realize you don't have to accept things given to you. You are capable of your own decisions BUT AT THE SAME TIME you are understanding that all others also may have their own (differing) views.

Who knows how Ft. Hood would have played out with different rules. Aside from CHL, I don't even know if they would permit loaded guns in that building on base anyways - again, someone could do it (and he did!) but it is illegal (and he will pay but not as dearly as we all have paid for his rage).

Perhaps you are unaware. It's the military that prohibits concealed carry, not the liberals/anti-2A-ers. Your beef is with the folks in charge of the Army (about as conservative as it gets, I think), not democrats or liberals. If you direct your energy towards the right folks, you may have greater success. It's all too easy to blame unnamed amorphous groups for things, but I think you're misguided on this one. Just my opinion, having served in the military for 21 yrs, having a son that was stationed at Ft. Hood until 3 weeks ago, and knowing that most, if not all, military bases require at least registration of a weapon to bring it onto the installation and most require it be stored in the base armory, not at one's home. There are some exceptions, and those are attributable to the commander responsible for making those rules.

Well, that was brief and to the point  .

In all seriousness Hammer, I think you put into eloquent verse what is in all of us. Time and patience is out. God save us and the U.S.

Thanks Hammer!
I asked my better half to read your post last night. This morning (in addition to her 2 mouse guns she always carrys) she took her Glock in her "camera pouch" on her belt. I didn't have to ask why. Then she tells me she took one of "my" spare mags!
She's more than a great wife and mother, she's an awesome body guard too!
