Awesome revolver! I know how it is man.

I've carried my Kimber for the longest, but finally satisfied my curiosity for wheel guns.
S&W 438 .38 spl +p Airweight Bodyguard style with pachmayer grip.

It's a great feeling.

Although I had to go for a smaller (cheaper) model. Oh well....

Its like an addiction. Nice gun. Will never jam, fire every time and hard to beat the safety of Double Action. I love my semi autos also but def something about a wheel gun. I think its all the Dirty Harry Clint Eastwood movies I watched as a kid. :lol:

Congrats! After using my trusty Colt Commander .45 as my primary protection gun since 1992, I recently switched to a revolver. Nothing wrong with the Colt, (still the greatest gun ever) but I gave it to my sister after she had a break-in at her apartment. No one hurt, and she was at work, but I wanted her to have something in case they make the mistake of coming back! I have been carrying a S&W 629 in .44 and I really like it. Much easier to carry than I thought with a shoulder holster, but pretty darn heavy. I have been looking for an 8 shot .357 as I think that might be darn near perfect for CC but a little worried about the bulk (not that the 629 is not bulky!) The .357 is a bit more manageable than .44 and two extra shots. Are you carrying this daily? She is a beauty either way. :cheers2:

Yes I carry it daily. I'f you buy one and carry it you will never carry another gun it's that comfortable. I have a sub compact XD in 3 inch and I like the revolver better for carrying . I use to own a 6 inch 629 smith alsoI'. If you are used to shooting that then you will LOVE this gun. I've made up my mind and starting to save for the same gun in 44 mag it's that good. It makes more sense to get the 44 with at least a 4 inch barrel but then I would be back to a heavier gun and none of the nice feature that the Night Guard series has. I like the Taurus 444 but they use a titanium cylinder then put 2 locks on it. The reason is because they had an issue of the cylinder opening when fired. The SW made there's of stainless steel to eliminate this problem . Smiths are to exspensive but things like that take me back to you get what you pay for. One more thing I called Taurus and asked them about what rear site came on the gun as I had seen pics with 2 different rear sights. One was carry friendly and one was not. He told me it comes with the not friendly to carry one. It totally will get caught on removal. He then said the gun was not designed as a holster gun but rather a gun to throw in a pack while hiking. I was like seriously CMON. Good luck and start saving you won't regret it just make sure you get the 327 model it's the 8 shot . They also make a 7 shot in a smaller L frame.

You're reading my mind. I figure with 8 shots of .357 and revolver reliability, I can't go wrong. I am willing to pay a penalty in size and weight for that. You're right about the high price. They sure have gotten high, but if I ever have to use it, I will be grateful that I didn't go cheap. I have been having a hard time justifying another S&W revolver at the current prices, but you have been such a bad influence on me, that I have no choice but to take the plunge! I'll just tell my wife "but honey, Keith got a new one!" :mrgreen:

Oh now I'm in trouble. I told the wife you bought a new one so that's why I needed a new one. Seriously though shop around. I paid 350 under invoice. Don't worry about the weight very light but with the full size N frame recoil is not bad at all with the factory pachmeyer grips. Because I've been such a bad influence on you meens you buy the first round of cold ones. :cheers2:

Before you guys go off the deep end on big iron, consider this concealment revolver/ammo combo that wasn't available until recently:

315 six shot K frame Night Guard, 22 ounces, 2.5 inch barrel

and 158 grain LSWCHP 38 Special +P Buffalo Bore, 1059 fps/393 ft. lbs.
http://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l= ... tail&p=108" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This combo is up there at mid-range 9mm +P energy, just short of the Gold Dot 124 grain load. Pretty stout for a 38.There isn't much weight difference between the Model 315 and the seven shot L frame, but there's no doubt the ubiquitous K frame will tuck away better. Lose a little speed and quantity in exchange for concealability, handling and possibly keep you out of the frying pan in court. First thing a juror is going to think when he or she finds out you killed the perpetrator with a 38 Special is, "Hey, my Grandma had one of those to protect herself with, too." You shoot somebody with one of those Dirty Harry magnum killer calibers, well, how does it sound so far compared to Grandma's gun?

Earlier someone said you don't have to worry about jamming with a revolver or words to that effect, ah sorry, but revolvers can and do jam.

I have a Ruger SP101 and it's jammed - the case in one of the rounds had minutely expanded, thus when the cylinder revolved to it, it came to a dead stop, jammed.

Revolvers aren't jam proof or any other proof - they too have their failings.

I guess when they do jam, you're down for the count whereas with a semi auto, you just slap it around and usually it goes back to work.

Caisingpoint Sorry but I dont consider any gun a grandma gun. Your love for 38 is great and has its pos in some situations but not here. I personalyy would never shoot one for self defense when 357 is avaliable. To discuss your being in court I have to disagree with you. They could also say why would you carry a cop gun 38 thats basically what the police used for years. Mr Keith were you trying to be a cop. Tons of people carry 9mm and a jury could say why do you need so many rounds. Are you a bad shot or planning a killing spree. Sorry but your reason doesnt fly with me why I should not carry 357 Just my oppinion. Abraham do you dislike your revolver due to its issues? I love the semi also but at least for me I can honestly tell you ive owned 5 Smith&wesson revolvers and I have never had one jam. Sure they can and do. If I have a revolver failure I just pull the trigger again. I would take the odds any day of the week as to what has a better chance for failure a auto or wheel gun. With that being said a quality auto has a slim chance of failure. I will carry my 45,10,40 any day of the week. Its just that my wheel gun feels better so its natural to take it first. Take care hopefully none of us will ever be in court for shooting some one. Abraham if we ever meet hopefully its a day that I have a semi auto with me (just kidding with ya brother) :tiphat: Texas girl look in earlier posts here for the full rundown. Quik rundown shoots great a absolute pleasure to fire.
