Kahr P380

Post by adam71176 »

Does anyone have any experience with this new one from Karh. I know that they are known for their quality and reliability. I'm wondering if $6-$700 is totally unreasonable for a pocket .380.

Thanks for any comments or info. :tiphat:

The few reviews I have seen indicate they have a few problem products like everyone else.
i did handle one recently and was impressed. I'll probably buy one at some point.

Adam, from your question about "moonie"

Kahr was founded with moonie cult money through a shell corporation, and the owner is the son of Moon. Profits go to the moonie church.

The moonies also founded the Washington Times (my emphasis in quote):
The Washington Post reported: "the Times was established by Moon to combat communism and be a conservative alternative to what he perceived as the liberal bias of The Washington Post."
Imagine, perceiving liberal bias at the Post. What a strange man...

Anyway, the moonies have an odd religion, by my lights, and I think they had a spell of misusing church fund for personal gain. However they seem to have behaved themselves in America at least as well as many mainstream religions -- and better than some. I will continued to buy their arms and newspapers...

Well I was able to track one down and I will give a full range report as soon as I can. Moonies or not it's a darn great gun!

My son has one. It has been back to Kahr after the first range trip. Failure to go into battery issues and on a few rounds it stuck at partial battery and I didn't think I would ever get it unstuck. He sent it off and they sent it back in worse shape than when they got it. Now it won't get through a full magazine without a failure to feed. They obviously sent it back without test firing the darned thing. I should know better than to buy a new designed pistol offering from any manufacturer. This handgun has gotten real expensive for a 380.

Lightning, I'm sorry for the issues you and your son are having, I've been going through the same thing with another gun recently.

As for my impression of the Kahr P380, I received it yesterday at my dealer/range. Opened it up and did a light cleaning and oiling. Now I have owned a couple of these little mouse guns and I have to say that the overall feel and look of this gun is what you would expect for one that costs 2x what the others are going for. It is a little heavier than say an LCP or KT and it felt solid in my hand.

Of course after my recent dealings with another pocket .380 and the cost of ammo I was quite apprehensive.

I'll keep my range report quick: ~250 flawless rounds of various brands and I am now loving this gun. No failures of any kind and boy is it accurate. I usually don't bother shooting mouse guns past 5 yards, but it was so accurate I tried it at 7 and was grouping 3" shots, and at 10 yards 6" groups with no problem.

Felt recoil is very light and I believe that the 5.25 lb trigger pull reported is accurate. The trigger is also wide and smooth and I had no trouble with it biting my finger even after 250 rounds.

As of now I am very pleased with this little gun and have a good feeling it will be riding in my pocket for some time to come. Here's to hoping my search for the right pocket gun is over. :woohoo
