Just out of curiosity, I've checked in a WMart and Dick's in the Jackson, Tn area this weekend. Only asked about .380's, as in North Texas, none to be found.

Thats why I bought my XD40 because I could never find ammo for my XD45. Funny how tons of people and police use 40 cal and there is tons of that but no 45 cal or 357 mag. We know 45 is popular but 357 mag is not as popular as 45 or 40. So there is no ryme or reason why some rounds are in stk and some are not. You have two very popular rounds one in stk one not and then you have a not very popular round by todays standards again not in stk. :headscratch

While scrounging for .380 acp, 9mm parabellum, 38 Spec. and .45 acp MT's in various outdoor shooting places over the summer, we have picked up, and given away, 100's of rounds of .40 S&W where there were no other MT's on the ground but .22. What's up with that?

Dont have a answer for that. For the people that do reload ive heard there are also primer issues.

Primers are out there but one must be extremely vigilant; e.g., "now you see 'um, now you don't"

Bass Pro in San Antonio had most everything in pistol calibers but .38 Special on Thanksgiving Day. Of course, I was there in the morning when it was still lightly populated. Bought some WWB .380 (left 400 rounds on the shelf) and some .30-30 LeverEvolution.

.45 is about the same. I just keep checking the Walmarts in my normal shopping. Whenever I come across them it is usually between 4 to 6 boxes of 100 and I just buy them up. Fortunately I usually find more as I am down to one box left. Recently set up a rig to reload and just got primers and bullets for that. Starting to "recycle" so it should get a bit easier.

FWIW, we were at the WalleyWorld in Palestine around noon today and they had WWB in just about all of the more popular handgun cartridges EXCEPT .380, they even had 38 Spec. in WWB. Calibers 9mm & .40 dominated the field but there were several WWB's of the others. The prices were about what they were pre-election.

You just got to be there at the right time. I didn't get any because I don't need any more ammo or guns until Mrs. Oldgringo gets new kitchen flooring and countertops - she sounded :rules: like she wasn't kidding.
