WTB NAA 22 magnum revolver

Post by drjoker »

My female friend wants a NAA 22 magnum revolver as her PRIMARY ccw. She is a model and typically would wear skin tight clothes so conventional holstered handguns are out of the question. However, a NAA 22 magnum would be perfect in a neck chain holster. She doesn't want a kel-tec nor ruger lcp because she likes the reliability of revolvers. Hey, could you guys help me buy her this gun? It is a gift, so I don't want to go over budget (going over budget on a female friend's gift would make the wife mad). So, any sellers for around $125?

Please be a careful gun owner who cleans and oils their gun immediately after every trip to the range.

Thanks,
;-)

Hi,

IMHO, please be aware that the NAA revolvers are single action and therefore takes some practice to use in a stress situation.
I won't go into the ".22 versus whatever" debate.

Also, to obtain the CHL, the minimum caliber requirement is .32.

Hope this helps.

She actually prefers single action. I taught her how to shoot with a Glock 19. She doesn't like it because, "it is too easy to just pull the trigger." This ease makes her nervous. Keeping a round in the chamber makes her nervous. However, a single action revolver with an empty chamber that you'd have to cock a hammer to chamber a live round allows her to comfortably carry a firearm.

She's going to borrow my Glock to go to attend the CHL class.

Yes, both I and her know that the one shot stop statistic is only about 40% with a 22 magnum. It is dismal, but having any gun is better than no gun. She doesn't like my kel-tec p3at. It jammed once when we were at the range so she doesn't trust it. Yes, I've had a gunsmith look it over and did a "fluff and buff" on it. The guy at the gun store said that it is NORMAL for p3at's to jam once in a while, especially with hollow points.

She does bikini modeling, lingerie modeling, and art modeling. She can conceal the NAA 22 in an empty pack of cigarettes and keep the pack of cigarettes within arm's reach when she's modeling. Modeling seems like a real dangerous profession. Total strangers would call you and you're expected to show up wearing nothing or barely anything for them to paint or photograph. There's nobody there but the artist/photographer and the model. It would be impossible to conceal most guns if you're wearing nothing or barely anything.

You know what the first rule of a gunfight is right? Have a gun, any gun.

Anyways, would any of you nice guys be willing to part with a NAA 22 in good working order for a C note? C'mon, in the spirit if Christmas??

Thanks,

The NAA .22 mag is a great little gun to be sure. They have a little notch on the cylinder for the hammer to rest on between each round, that way you can carry it with all five rounds and not risk a drop-fire.

However, IMHO it takes a lot of practice to be "good" with it. There's not a lot to hold on to and the kick is pretty stout.
For about $40.00 you can order the "folding grip" and that can serve not only for better control but add to the safe carry as well. I once removed mine from my pocket at the end of the day to find that the hammer had somehow been cocked into firing position! The only thing that prevented it from firing was that the folding grip covers the trigger.
Complete stupidity on my part, and I know I'm blessed that it worked out that way. I now use the built in clip when I carry it.
So now this post is longer than the owners manual, but I felt I should share my mistakes so they are not repeated.

Unless someone is feeling extremely generous, you probably won't see one that cheap.

I found this listing for $165+$15 shipping plus whatever your transfer fee would be.

Also, I doubt it is still there, but Sportsman's Outlet in Humble had one recently for $199.

I agree, you'll need a lot of luck in that budget. I've been watching those for at least 2 years, and the chaepest one I've seen was $125. That person never responded to my (immediate) inquiry.

that Gunsamerica ad is as cheap as I've seen a Magnum frame, which I much prefer. Won't fit a pack of cigs, but they fit any number of other "holsters". I use a glasses case for my Black Widow. Manicure cases and iPod cases work well too.

$100 would be a great deal, I carry one as a backup sometimes on this neckchain holster, but I have to wear an undershirt as it will pull chest hair, not likely a problem with your model friend  . Anyway, the cheapest I saw this weekend at GRB Fun Show was just a shade under $200 without the $30 holster. I know you're looking for used, someone might have one for that price range, I like mine too much to sell though. Best of luck.

I've seen one for $ 139. and almost got it just due to its novelty factor.
Can't remember if it was new or used.

Hidden in Plain Sight

Post by drjoker »

O.K.

I ended up buying 2 guns from a local pawn shop, one overpriced one and one NAA 22 WMR for a C-note. Technically, I did not go over on the budget since the receipt for the NAA revolver is only 1 c-note, but I actually paid $125 for it since the other gun was overpriced by $25. Then, I gave my uncle, a retired jeweler, some junk gold for payment and for materials cost. My uncle electroplated the gun in gold. Then, he made solid gold grips for it. He even set it with 2 small cubic zirconia faux diamonds and a loop hole at the end of the butt. A stout gold chain was placed through the gold loop.

The following is not a pic of the gun, but it is a pic that I showed my uncle. The gun looks almost just like the one in the pic.

Although it is just a 22, it actually has quite a bit of recoil due to the low weight and the awkward one finger grip. It is difficult to shoot well. However, she will only use it as a "get off me" gun to prevent rape. If it ever gets used, it will only get used at point blank range so it doesn't need to be accurate. As long as it goes "bang" and is more effective than pepper spray, then it is exactly what she is needs in a gun.

It's a neat little gun, so I'm leaving the ad up because if someone is willing to let one go for a c-note, I will buy another one for myself.
