Does anyone have any experience with a H&K P7? I have a friend who is wanting to do some trading for one. I am mainly a 1911 NUT, but I am open

Pistol has 6 month old night sights.Depending on condition and features, usually between $800 and $1500. It's hard to tell based solely on it being a P7. There are several different variations and finishes, each of which has wildly different value. There are no less than seven different P7s out there. Most likely, you're looking at a P7M8. The M-number indicates the magazine capacity.
Commercial guns are almost always higher. Expect to pay the full $1500 for a NIB commercial. Service models with a good bit of use can run as low as $500. Refurbished service models will be more in the $600-$800 range. They are highly prized guns that, for some reason, do not hold their value at all. The bluebook value is in the $1100-$1200 range for a NIB model, but deals like that are difficult to find. The "heel catch" models, with the mag catch at the rear end of the magwell, seem to go higher as they are European models. American models have the mag catch behind the trigger like most American guns.
They are no longer made, except for the "new production" models which are still in production. Yeah, you heard me right. Every time somebody says they're out of production, another shipment of NIB guns arrives. Go figure.
While pricing and production are completely unreliable, the construction is absolutely flawless. The manual of arms is a little bit wacky as a result of the squeeze cocker, but the fit and finish are fantastic. They are exceptionally reliable guns and are widely considered the ultimate in carry pieces. The bore axis is low, which keeps the low weight from causing recoil problems. The squeeze cocker is a little weird, but once mastered it is a truly excellent safety system. The gun absolutely cannot be fired unless you cock it.
If you're looking for a very good carry gun, it would be an excellent choice. Just don't become a weirdo snob about HK. It's some kind of snob virus they put in the finish. I'm not kidding. If you think 1911 shooters are a cult, you haven't seen HK owners.

He's had some work done on it and added nite sites. Depending on how bad you want it, it may be worth his asking price - depends on what you are trading.

P7s are great. They are addictive - like the 1911. I have over a dozen P7s. All that I've shot are excellent shooters.

I had a couple of P-7's. Both the M8 and the M13. Both were very accurate and the grip fit my hand very well for both of them. Once you spent a few months shooting one, the action is quick to use. Quickest to reload and get into battery. You just put a fresh mag in and grip the gun.
What I didn't like about them...
The cost of the mags, especially the M13. I think I had to pay $85 a mag.
The gun got hot fast. Your not going to put 3 -13 rounds mags through it without it getting hot to the touch. It also seemed to hold that heat for quite a while.
Sold my last one and went to a Sig 228 for a couple of years.
