HGCA gunshow at Reliant Center 30.06

Post by A-R »

Planning to drive to Houston for this show on Saturday ...

1. Is it posted 30.06?

2. Is it a good show? Larger/better than Saxet shows we get in Austin?

Hoping to sell a Browning BPS 12 gauge while I'm there.

The show itself will be posted. Reliant center itself is not, they have some kind of non-applicable sign posted. You can go into a stall in the bathroom and clear your pistol prior to going into the show and get Officer Friendly to zip tie it when you go in.

It is usually a pretty good show. Way better than the Pasedena one.

The HGCA show is much bigger than any Saxet show I have seen in the Houston area. I don't know how big the one in Austin is. The HGCA show is pretty much the biggest in Houston. They do it 3 or 4 times a year.

I attended a show there in the spring the same weekend as the Home show, and saw no posting, and there were no officers zip tying firearms. I carried in.

This is not a good weekend to take your wife!!!! If you were to make a purchase at the gun show plan on spending double at the home show. It should be illegal to have those venues on the same day at the same location. On the other hand, it may be the only way I will get the new toy. :thumbs2:

Not only that, but the Gem and Jewelry Show is at the Reliant this weekend, too. My wife is planning to attend that on Friday and we'll hit the gun show together on Saturday.

Because of the weather situation, my wife didn't make it to the Gem and Jewelry show on Friday, after all.

She went on Saturday and I went to the Gun show. Arrived about a quarter to ten and had made the rounds before 11:30. Wasn't as busy as previous shows, but was getting sort of crowded by the time I left. The ammo prices were high -- their price for 9mm was about the same as Wally World's price for 45, even in 500- and 1000-round batches.

Is there any cheap (free!) parking nearby? I'm thinking of going tomorrow.

No, not really, yet you missed this show by a few months... :anamatedbanana

The only think I come up with is the parking down at the Choo Choo train stop across from the old Astroworld property south of the 610 loop...You can hop the train to get up to the Reliant property and walk a ways to the show...

In the end you pay $$ and walk quite a ways...At least that is what I see...I don't go to the Reliant shows because of the parking cost, coupled with the entry fee, etc etc etc...

Unless I absolutely need something...And if that is the case...Well, I should have got it before the show anyway... ;-)

Just my opinion...

While he may have been replying to a thread that is months old, his timing is fine. The HGCA show is today and tomorrow at Reliant. :)
