The thread just kinda of stop when it was getting really good. I would come back every day looking to see if anything was added. So since nothing has been added in a long time I will go ahead a ask the question.
I have been carrying IWB for over a year now, but would like to also start to carry in a shoulder holster from time to time. Like on a motorcycle, during the winter and also time when I'm required to be in a suit and tie.
So These questions are for Flinknapper and Longtooth or any one else that wants to join in. Could you help me and maybe other by explaining a couple things about shoulder holster. Here are a couple of questions I have.
1. I have heard to adjust High and tight, is this correct? If so how high? How many inches below ones armpit?
2. Do you need a tie down on the other side?
3. What about the adjustment on the Mag Side.
4. Method of draw when the person is close to you?
5. Method of draw to avoid swepping yourself and others?
These are the questions that come to mind, But please if you can go over everything. I am still thinking weather or not to get a shoulder holster, and your answer will help me make up my mind.
Once again It would be great to see many different answer and methods to these questions.
Thanks
Brad

I will answer your questions & just let you know we have not forgotten you or this thread. We spent Monday afternoon getting some training pictures & visual aids together to make the tracking of the draw stroke easier to see.
He has the camera. Yours truely was the GG in the pics. Flint is putting it together & should be on the board w/in 48 hrs I would imagine.
Answers to your questions.
1.High & tight is the way I describ it. My training style is to try to paint pictures or give "one liners" that folks will remember easy. Couple of pictures following. One of each of us. My gun side. His mag side.
a. I want to be able to run my right hand easily over the top of my holster starting from the inside w/ my knuckles in my armpit. Hand should slide in easily & you should not be in a bind when your arms are down.
b. I want to be able to control any holster swing or movement by contact just above mid arm.
c. I want the butt of my gun to be just below top of shirt pocket.
d. Hand over heart to Pledge Alegance to the Flag should just about touch the butt of your gun.
e. As soon as it is not binding & uncomfortable.
Pick the discription above that makes things work for you.
At this hight when you draw, left elbow in stabalizing holster & Left hand up in a defensive position. Right hand is still high enough to defend w/ & fight also.
How low is too low??? If the center of your holster gets much below the middle of your upper arm, I call that toooo low.

Next picture is of Flint w/ his mag side showing. Neither of us use tiedowns. With the holster adjusted as we both do there is no need for one. Basically the same adjustment on mag side as the holster side. Mags up tight you are not having to reach way down to your belt for the release snaps. Here is a good picture of mag side. We both adjust ours about the same. You can comfortable slide your hand over the top of the mag pouch but you can see it does not flop around even w/ his arm up & leaning forward. Flint carries cuffs also. He is HIGHLY trained Neither of us recomend average Joe Citizen carrying cuffs.

I will wait for Flint to answer the draw ?s until you can see the pictures. It will be so much easier to see w/ the pics.
