Console Vault
Resurrecting a thread from 2007, I'm interested to know if anyone uses a console vault and, if so, which locking mechanism is preferred.... key or combo?

Re: Console Vault
yes in a 2005 Toyota Tacoma. Combo lock is much preferred. But I prefer combo lock on most every gun-related safe/lock I own. Don't want to need a gun and oops don't have the key. The combo lock on those vaults is called a Combi Cam and I've bought their locks to replace keyed cylinder cam locks on other devices. Really easy to use 3-digit combo, user resettable.Bayllor wrote:Resurrecting a thread from 2007, I'm interested to know if anyone uses a console vault and, if so, which locking mechanism is preferred.... key or combo?
I can have my Console Vault open and gun in my hand in 5 seconds or less in complete darkness because I know (and have practiced) how many clicks to turn each cylinder.
They are expensive and a bit harder than the piece if cake installation the manufacturer claims (though still doable self-install for most folks), but other than those two caveats I think it's the best automotive handgun safe available).
