Range Report 3/22/2010.....Bersa update!

Post by Kevinf2349 »

After, seemingly, an age has passed we went to the gun range today (Marksman Indoor Range). The place was packed, which is kind of good to see, but the wait wasn't too bad and my wife and I got lanes next to each other.

The main reason for the visit, apart from the shear fun of it, was to test out the Bersa Thunder, but it would be wrong to not spread the workload amongst some of the other guns, so we took 3 pistols and a rifle.

We shot 50 rounds through the Bersa all flawlessly! Not a single FTF! :hurry: Regular readers will recall that we were lucky to get 2 fired without a FTF in the past. Whatever the smiths did seems to have worked (for the time being). I am pleased as I was begining to think it was us that was the issue. I am still not 100% confident in the Bersa but I will still use it as a BUG until we decide to trade it for a single stack 9mm somewhere down the line.

I plinked with the Henry and I just love that gun. It is such fun to shoot and cheap on ammo too. The XD9 shot as expected, perfectly and accurately and the G30 was a typical Glock..no issues.

Now there were some worrying things happened at the range. My wife got hit by what appeared to be a fragment of bullet but we have no idea how. Is it possible for a fragment to come backwards after the bullet hits the paper? She wasn't even shooting her gun at the time so we aren't sure how that happened. Now just to make things interesting a gentleman next to me said that a bit of my bullet also hit him. This worries me somewhat. Any ideas? I know for sure I didn't hit any framing but the target was only at 3 yards.

There was also a lady at the range (in the store actually) that was walking around, waiting to shoot with her gun in hand and finger on the trigger. I hated to see that, especially as the gun wasn't at slide lock either :totap: :nono:

Also there were a couple of goofballs inside the range that were blowing off rounds like there would be no tomorrow. (not very accurately most of the time) but they were also drawing from the holster which I had assumed wasn't allowed there? :headscratch

All in all though a very satisfactory visit in terms of the Bersa, but a little bit scary too in terms of patrons and their gun etiquette.

:tiphat:

Glad to hear the Bersa is running good.
There are few things less frustrating than a gun with reliability issues.

About the range safety.
The other day there was a guy next to me. He told me "This will be the first time I have ever shot a gun"
Needless to say I had to keep one eye on him the whole time I was shooting.

What kind of Henry do you have? A lever action of some kind is on my rather extensive wish list.

Just the cheap one (around $250), but it sure is fun to shoot and accurate too.

Thanks. That's not a bad price, I may keep an eye out for one once I have a carry gun.
