CHL Handgun purchase

Post by tqu9047 »

Which of the big box stores still call in handgun sales? I will be getting a PT709 here in the near future and if possible, I will not do business with a store that will not accept my CHL when buying a gun. Maybe it's just me, but it's the principle of the thing. I know bass Pro Shop calls in every purchase but what about stores like Cabella's, Cheaper Than Dirt and Academy?

I bought a Buckmark .22 the end of last year from Academy. W/ the CHL they did not call in the purchase. quick in and out.
They also carry Taurus so that place is an option.

Euless Guns & Ammo on highway 10, next door to the police station, will not make you wait while they call it in.

:iagree:

I've bought a couple of guns from Academy over the past couple of years, and a CHL replaces the phone call. You still have to fill out that long form, though...

Academy and Gander Mountain do not call if you have CHL. :txflag:

Academy will not call your purchase in with a CHL. BUT, the bigger advantage is their prices. I haven't found any better prices anywhere in DFW area. The problem will be having exactly what you are looking for, so you'll have to check around are check back until you find what you want because their prices move a lot of guns. I've bought three from them, and can't find anybody that beats their prices. None of them will make you wait on a phone call with a CHL.

Got one of my LCP's from GM on sale. Great price. The ammo was a different story. Didn't buy any of that.

Got a GM flyer today showing the LCP with spare mag, cheap nylon holster, and bore snake for $399.99.

This is not a good deal. Hope you did better. GM's prices are usually past ridiculous.

Did do better. Got mine for $299.00. I ended up getting another one from a gun show for $279.00, but thought coming from a store the $299.00 price was pretty good. This has been a little while back so they may be found cheaper now - don't know.

I have found that Academy will check inventory and even call other stores in the area if the store you visit does not have the model you are looking for. I asked about that when I was looking for a Beretta CX4 and they were happy to oblige. Drove across town and they had even set it behind the counter for me.

Cabela's and Academy don't call it in. To me its no big deal. If they want to call let 'em call.
