Did you cleaned it before you used it? I've had mine for a year, several hundred rounds without any problems. It is my EDC gun.karl wrote:Just got a Taurus PT-111 as a car gun and occasional carry piece, and at Academy's $329, not too bad on the wallet.
Went to Thunder Gun Range this morning to put some lead to paper. Started out very inaccurate but got better with my last two magazines and I was actually able to hit the bulls eye at 5 yds. 9 jams and one FTE. Out of 50 that's a 20% failure rate. I'm certain it's not a case of limp wrist, my main carry piece is a .45; hopefully this will improve in time and it can graduate to the adjective "dependable" as a description of its characteristics. Trigger seems to be a DA/SA and it's "supposed to" reset itself after each pull, but on the FTE it didn't. I'm not worried yet, sending my warranty card in the mail today
.
I replaced the straight eight Heinie sights with the Firesights fromTeamless wrote:I have the same weapon and have not yet, ever, had any FTF or FTEs. I have put about 250 rounds though mine in total.
the only thing I don't like about the Taurus PT111 is the sights. Id rather have a "bracket" rear sight and not a single dot, but once I got used to that, its not a bad weapon (imo)

Sounds like a good coating of Cosmoline.karl wrote:TLynn: it was very greasy! Thick paste would be a better word; the slide, barrel, internals. Everything was good and covered.
Happy Birthday Karl !karl wrote:Update 5/12:
130 rounds down range today, only two jams this time. I did have a problem with the trigger not resetting on three occasions but it was quickly resolved by ejecting a round. Accuracy has improved astronomically
I have no idea what Teamless is talking about. He shot nice tight groups like a pro. At 10 yards, it was hard to discern which bullseye shot was the most recent!Teamless wrote:... but Quahog game me a lot of great advice, improved my accuracy tremendously! thanks Quahog!!
I would agree, but to add a bit, it is hard to find which one was most recent, of the 2 out of 150 rounds... Maybe 1 was about 8:45 and 1 about 9:30 ... not sure which was firstQuahog wrote:it was hard to discern which bullseye shot was the most recent!
In all seriousness, dude... I thought your shooting was very good.Teamless wrote:I would agree, but to add a bit, it is hard to find which one was most recent, of the 2 out of 150 rounds...
