wisdom gained from Longtooth

Post by Venus Pax »

Longtooth always says something that I find both humorous and true. He compares his gun to his undergarments, meaning they're somewhat of a private matter.

A few Sundays ago, I was talking to a lady that rides with me when I deliver food once a month to elderly/disabled folks. She had brought a visitor to church (her neighbor), and we were sitting around talking.

Her visitor asks, "How long have you carried a gun?"

I wasn't really aware that my drawers were showing, so I covered my butt (the gun's butt), and apologized.

My friend that rides w/ me was shocked. (She's originally from New Jersey.) She asked why I never told her. I got to use Longtooth's line. I informed her that my gun was like my underwear: the only things that could make me purposely expose myself would be an extreme emergency or drunkenness, and that she wouldn't be seeing the latter from me.

She laughed for awhile, then got used to the idea.
(As it turned out, her visitor carries too.)

And I bet that is why she noticed it and knew what it was. Your friend was right there and didn't notice, but the stranger who also goes through the same thing did. Yeah... good company.

Thank you maam. You can usually be sure that if you are made only by sight & not touch that it is another CHLer. The 1st thing I notice about folks is their awareness of surroundings & then where they may be packing.

In fact, I had thought of saying "It's a life-saving device" implying a medical device, but I like "it's my underwear, I never leave home without it!"
