You just have to love Paul Harvey (RIP), so very eloquent and yet common spoken and always makes just plain good sense!

When I read the title, I wondered whether this was going to reference the famous Robert Peel quote: "The police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence. "

That is exactly what we all hope for Peace Officers to be. And for all those officers who uphold that ideal, I sincerely and honestly salute you!

I won't hijack your thread with the disconnect between ideals and reality.
