The robbery suspect then returned to his home and made a call to police reporting he had been injured in a drive-by shooting.

After questioning the man, police learned that he was the suspect in the attempted robbery.

Once again we see how important the rule about calling the police first is. It certainly appears that the homeowner had the presence of mind to call and file the report before the attempting robber did. This whole thing may have been handled quite differently had the homeowner NOT called the police...

The bad guys really can't tell who's got a CHL and who doesn't, but they still try to play their games. Surely they know that there's plenty of us out there that are legally armed. Will they never learn?

So true. I had a friend many years ago who called me late one night in a panic to say her ex-husband had just stormed into her business and was verbally abusive and physicall attacked her. She escorted him out the front door with a pistol. She was very much afraid for her safety. I advised her to immediately call the police and report the incident. She didn't follow my advice.

The next morning, she called me from jail to say that she was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. She decided to not call the police as I suggested, because she "felt sorry for him". He did not have the same feelings toward her and called the police from a pay phone across the street to report the "assault".
