WHEW!

Post by coony350 »

Finally got plastic friday, 6/4, after submitting application 5/3. First thing I did was go to local shop & purchase XDM 45 (w/out having to wait for background check). Already have XD45 & I love it! Ordered & received crossbreed super tuck. I woke up this morning so nervous about the wally walk that I had to take a nap & get calm. I did the walk & everything went great. I'm grateful to this forum for all the information!

Glad to hear it.
Everyday it gets better and easier, give it a week of carrying daily, it will be very easy and you won't even give it a second thought

Congrats! The nerves will go away soon and you'll not even think about it when you are carrying. In fact, you'll probably feel funny when you're not.

Thanks for the encouraging replies! I've been carrying every day & have made several trips into the public arena. It's becoming very comfortable. What I've noticed most of all is how much more aware of my posture I've become. I had to buy suspenders to assist in holding up extra weight. Have to report for jury duty monday, so I'm sure I'll feel naked going into the courthouse.......:
thanks again everyone!

Sorry bout taking so long to respond. I've been a bit nervous. I'm from West Texas, south of Grape Creek, north of Christoval, east of Mertzon, west of Wall. I've been wearing a crossbreed supertuck. I was so impressed w/it that I ordered a left hand for another xd45. I've been wearing right for almost 2 months & left for a week now. I'm very impressed w/the fit (it takes a few days for the leather to conform to body). I like wearing left because it provides a balanced fit & because I've got arthritis & need to be able to use my left hand. I shoot w/both hands at the range.
None of the people that I work with have picked me off. I've been up ladders, kneeled, carried stuff, shot claybirds w/bosses/fellow employees. The super tuck is awesome. Had to upsize jeans & shirts...not a problem because it helps hide my beer gut....LOL
My concern at this time is chambering while carrying. I don't chamber now. I need some input from you guys/gals. I know that in a life threatening situation, chambered could be the difference between life & death. I guess it's a confidence thing?

as long as your finger isn't on the trigger your safe. the only thing you'd have to worry about is something getting in your holster but the grip safety would still be engaged. i carried an xd for about 6 months before switching to a glock and had no worries about the chambered round.
