questions?
Can anyone tell me what all the look at in the background. to they sent something to every county i have lived in, in the last 5 years? and do they have to send something back to them because i have been waiting probably 3 weeks without a status change. and they have had my paper work for 6 weeks.
Re: questions?
Yes, a background check is done in every county in which you have lived and or worked during the past five years.
I know it seems like you have been stuck limbo but the background check is the most time consuming portion of the application process. Be patient, it will change eventually.
Hope this helps.

Re: questions?
so, is the reason it takes so long, is the people in those counties have to look in there records and get back to them? or do they just do it on the computer?

That part, I don't know. In the past, I believe everything was done through paper work and by mail....I think.creekwilly wrote:so, is the reason it takes so long, is the people in those counties have to look in there records and get back to them? or do they just do it on the computer?
However, from what I understand, the process has been streamlined recently and has become more efficient.
If you are concerned, you can always call DPS to ask what the status is. Chances are they will just say they are waiting for the background check(s) to come back. They still won't be able to give an estimate as to when your application will be completed.
My experience was...Just when I couldn't take it anymore is when is was completed. All was well after that.

From the FAQ:
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... hlfaqs.htm
During processing:
This just means that your application has been put in the system. Once the application has been entered into the system the process is split into different areas. We send your fingerprints over to the Department’s Crime Records Bureau, Fingerprint Section for the computerized background checks through the state and FBI.
Information is shared with local agencies in all the places you have lived in the past 5 years so the local department employees can perform a background check. The local background check will include a review of any county records including, but not limited to, any local arrest records that may not have been forwarded to the Department’s Crime Records Bureau.
We will check local tax records for school, property and city taxes owed or delinquent. We will also check local Justice Courts and Municipal Courts for any disqualifying Class C misdemeanor convictions.
If there is something in your background that may be disqualifying, we will then send a request for documents to you. You will have 90 days to respond to that letter requesting documents. If we do not receive the documents during that time frame your application will be terminated as incomplete.

Re: questions?
i just have one thing on my records and it was over 5 years ago. so that is what might be holding it up, but who know till i get it or dont get it. ill just wait till it comes in. because there isnt anything i can do, because calling doesnt not help, as what i have heard.
also, another question. does it update daily or does is update when there is enough before for it to update. bc what i have seen is that there is several ppl that update at a time. not many one people up dates?

no one outside of DPS knows the answer, however, from all of the posts on here, over the last 3 months (that I have been on the forum), it did seem that the website updates 2 times a week (or so)creekwilly wrote:does it update daily or does is update when there is enough before for it to update.
