For those who have been there, is there a 30.06 sign at the entrance of the fairground? I've been to their website, and they said no weapons of any kind are allowed. Just want to make sure. Thanks.

Re: Renaissance Festival
I haven't been in years. They used to encourage people to come in period costume, with swords & everything, but from your post it sounds like they have stopped that.KinnyLee wrote:For those who have been there, is there a 30.06 sign at the entrance of the fairground? When I last went they didn't have any "no firearms" signs, but then again it's been eight years...
I'm going Nov. 4th and maybe the 5th. I'm planing on carrying my kel-tec p-11. i do have a costume (OK stop laughing, i know, I'm a dork) i think I'll have to use my smart carry under my costume if i want to carry.
IIRC 2yrs ago someone got stabbed with a sword.

just got back from the renfest.
no wanding, no signage, except the 51% that is only if your in the "bars". As I understand it The border of the bar is a 4"' wide sidewalk right where you buy beer. Once you take it away from the designated "area" you are in the common area and 51% does not apply.
There was no 30.06 sign at any of the front gates. Just a bored sheriff deputy.
I noticed quite a few cameras in trees and on buildings but not much police presence. In the 7 hours I walked around I saw one deputy other than the one that was at the front gate as I came in.
All in all, It was cool. I miss SCA and the Sword fights.
Seems like every year it get’s a little more commercial with more China junk and less local wares and real hand made stuff made by real craftsman.
we need a houston crew day at the ren fest.
Having a website that says "no weapons" is just as binding as a ghostbusters no-guns sign... in other words, it means nothing to a legal CHL holder. It has to be legally posted 30.06 or 51% (or you have to have been given verbal or written 30.06 notice), otherwise you are completely, legally allowed to carry.
As long as the notice you received does not comform to 30.06 (written in the specific format, or verbal notice from the owner or someone with apparent authority to act by the owner)KinnyLee wrote:So I guess it is legal to carry there even though they said NO.
As far as verbal notice goes, they'd have to verbally tell everyone I *think*. So they might have told YOU no, but the rest of us might be fine!

(Charles, how's my legal wrangling, am I way off here?)
