.22LR conversion available for 3" 1911s?
I have been looking, but have not found anything that advertises as fitting a 3" 1911 - specifically the Kimber Ultra size. If anyone knows of a kit, please let me know! .45 is getting expensive and I would like to augment it with cheaper .22 rounds. I'd actually get to shoot a heck of a lot more with the kit.
I don't know about a conversion kit, but Ruger makes a nice Mark III 22/45 that has the same grip-to-barrel angle as a standard 1911A1. I bought one recently for the same cost reason and like it quite well. Feels almost exactly like my SA 1911A1 GI, just with less recoil, and at $0.03/shot, it is way more affordable to shoot.
I hear ya - my point was - I'm looking for a conversion kit, and not a different pistol. I was just saying that if I DID buy a new .22 pistol, it'd probably be a Sig.
I'm not really worried about the cost of the conversion kit(within reason - ~$350-$400), it will wash out soon enough with the cost difference bewtween .45 and .22. Also the training value of shooting the same pistol, its worth the cost IMHO.

I take several magazines & read others that I pick up. Read every ad to know what is out there. Haven't seen one. Doesn't mean it aint out there though. Good hunting.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

Short answer: no. Long answer: yes.Are the uppers interchangeable?
A government-length slide on a shortie frame wouldn't work. Ok, it might work with a FLGR, but you'd still have one heck of a gap from the short dust cover. A commander slide on an officer's frame has been done, although I think it's ugly. A government frame won't accept a commander or officer's slide without machine work. Basically, everything important to the operation of the slide is .060" farther back on the commander and officer pistols.
Ok, so now throw into the mix the fact that everybody seems to be going to fully ramped barrels for shorties...
Basically, if you want a <insert length>, buy a <insert same length>.

I recently read a good review of them, but can't recall where.

Awesome! I am going to give them a call on Monday to make sure they fit, but it looks like they might work. Thanks a ton!lrb111 wrote:Have you tried Ciener? http://www.22lrconversions.com/1911-pg.htmcyphur wrote:Anyone - Anyone? Bueller - Bueller?

They never did answer the phone, and the answering machine even states not to bother to leave a message, as they won't return it.
I can see from a SMB aspect that doing everything with a small amount of people in an efficient manner to keep the price margin decent, is quite necessary, but after 10 or so calls today I never once got through.
They also seem to think they covered absolutely every possible question under the sun, on their site. Unfortunately they did not....
Don't mean to sound negative, just a little put off I guess. Will try again tomorrow.
