Verizon Wireless Theatre in Houston

Post by barres »

I know there have been posts before about Verizon Wireless Theatre in Houston, but I recently went there for a concert. Here's the real scoop. There are completely legal signs on the doors you must use to enter the theatre. If you go looking for signs before the doors are opened, you can't miss them.

There is one catch to this, though. When they open the doors, the Spanish language sign and the English language sign are now facing each other from doors opening outward toward each other. The backs of the signs are completely blank. In other words, if you just got in the line that has probably already formed (unless you're showing up 90 minutes or so early), by the time you reach the signs, they will be unreadable, because their faces are about 2 inches from each other. If my wife hadn't gone looking for signs, I would not have received notification per 30.06 (because I couldn't see the sign as we went in, and I tried), and I would have carried. Since she looked and informed me of the valid posting, I returned to my vehicle and disarmed.

Last time I was there I went through a moderate security checkpoint including metal detectors and a pat down.
The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson

No such security checkpoint when I was there. Might depend on who was playing as to the level of security. We were there to see Straight No Chaser.
