Harris County cannot ban carrying by licensees ...

Post by seamusTX »

on county property such as parks.

Harris County Attorney Mike Stafford announced that state law prevents the county from banning carry by licensees on county property.

The county had been trying to ignore state law, which pre-empted counties and municipalities in 2003.

Harris county includes most of the city of Houston.

Now if someone can convince the DA to abide by the new travel law Harris County will be much more gun friendly.

Mebbe the City of Houston should do the same.

This is great. Maybe now those punks that beat up people in parks will think twice.

The reporter missed it on ''the place of a Goverment meeting''

I don't know how to get in touch with those people, would some one do that and inform him, he might like to understand 30.06 too.

That's really a big part of what this whole thing is about and 30.06 wasn't mentioned.

Happy to hear about the progress being made.

The author's email address is at the bottom of the story: bill.murphy@chron.com

I thought that didn't sound right, but I wasn't certain. Didn't he also miss the mark on his last paragraph comment about buildings with courts? I thought that had been clarified here recently because many county buildings have courts in some parts but "legal carry" locations in other parts of the building...
