No,

The only time you have to send back a license is when it is modified. A change of address is a duplicate license, not a modified one.

Modified is when you switch from SA to NSA or visa versa.
Just remember shot placement is much more important with what you shoot than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I didn't know there were procedures to go SA to NSA. I know NSA to SA exists... but why would you want to knock you license DOWN to NSA... you can already carry NSA with an SA.

Why anyone would want to is beyond me, but it is possible.

I was thinking of doing this a few months ago when I couldn't find any .380 ammo. :mrgreen:

Yes, you need to send it back at least that's what I remember from the Instructor's class. When I moved about 5 years ago I had to send my old license back.

You do not need to send it back, altho if you do, I am sure they will just destroy it for you.

Per Texas Administrative Code, Title 37, Part 1, Chapter 6, Subchapter B, Rule §6.14:

"A license holder may not possess more than one license to carry a concealed handgun issued by the department. A license holder who requests a duplicate license based on a change of name or address shall destroy the old license promptly upon receipt of the duplicate license."

http://info.sos.state.tx.us/pls/pub/rea ... ch=6&rl=14" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The note there says this became effective August 10, 2008, but that has been the policy longer than that. When I got a dupe due to address change some years ago, they advised me then I needed to destroy it.

If you go to the DPS website and click on the link for administrative rules, you get a page saying they are under revision. I have no idea if that page is correct, or has been there since 2008, or what. The link above is to the Secretary of State's site. The SOS is supposed to maintain the current set of admin rules.

All these silly rules are another good reason to get a license from a more reasonable state.

It has to be destroyed no matter what, since you can not have two active permits at one time. When I was in Austin last one officer said you to destroy it and others said to mail it in.
best thing just cut it in little bitty pieces..... :smilelol5:

Why?

I mean, other than arbitrary bureaucratic cowpies, why do they have to be destroyed?
