Baretta PX4 Storm

Post by longtooth »

Wife looked at a Baretta PX4 Storm tonight at Academy. Rotating barrel. She fell in love w/ it. Felt good to me too. She fell in love w/ it. I need a reliability report. & a Quality report.
Talk to me about the rotating barrel.
What is the web address to the Baretta forum.
Man she likes that gun. Made him get it out the 2nd time before we left the counter. She said I could shoot it if I was good.

I've shot the 40cal before and it was pretty cool. I also like that you can get it different calibers as well as get lots of neat accessories for it. I've been toying with the idea of picking up a 9mm version as it's pretty cheap to shoot.

One of my shooting buddies picked one up about 3 months ago in 9mm. Seems to be very reliable and I don't recall him having any trouble with it.

Thank your sir. The 9mm was the one she grabbed. Looks like a Christmas Present to me. She said I could shoot it too.
Any idea how many rounds he has through it?
Have you shot it?

Appreciate the report & oppinion. If he has run that much in front of you w/o you knowing of any problems there should not be any issues.
Since he shoots it every time that means he likes it.

I've had mine for quite a while now and probably have over 5000 rounds through it. I have yet to have a failure in it and the rotating barrel makes a big difference in recoil. While most pistols will give you a muzzle flip during recoil, the PX4 is more of a straight-back kind of push. Your sights will hop slightly, but I found myself doing double taps at an IDPA match and they were in the same hole a few times. You can convert it to decock only as well by removing a bearing/spring inside, or.....I've converted mine to a G model by adding the slim levers (decock only) and found the sight paint chips and falls out after a while. I've painted the dots with white model paint and all is well again. They're great pistols for the money and accuracy and reliability are above par.

Thank you Ranger. She just got up from reading it & wants one, Wants One, WANTS ONE. Now right now. She is as bad as we are.
Little problem now.
Not really covered up w/ a money blanket but I can afford one right now. Problem is that Mom was w/ us & she liked it too. After she shoots it I am afraid I am going to have to buy a 2nd one pretty quick. ouch.

We shot a .40 PX4 Storm this summer during a Beretta Day event. Both my wife and I liked the pistol very much. One of my friends bought one within about a week, but I did not. As I recall, it was a very nice handling pistol and my wife found the .40 was pleasant to shoot. The decocker was easy to use and was very positive. With the hammer down, the first shot will be a long double action pull, while the remaining rounds are a fairly smooth single action pull. The DA pull and racking the slide with the prominent decocker/safety lever gave my wife some fits, but she is new to pistol shooting and has those cute, dainty fingers. In my case, the transition from DA pull, then SA pull for remaining shots is something to I would want lots of trigger time to master before using the PX4 for carry because I want to be proficient as possible. For those who have used this type of pistol, I think the PX4 looks like a good machine.
