Carrying a knife in DC

Post by cubbyjg »

So i will be going to DC for a couple of days and am bummed out that i cannot carry over there. I was thinking about bringing my folding knife which is less than 3 inches as some form of backup. I remember reading that carrying a knife is allowed as long it isnt like a switch blade. Can anyone verify this?

I think DC has a law against carrying anything that could potentially be useful.
I am not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor should anything I say be taken as legal advice. If it is important that any information be accurate, do not use me as the only source.

It looks like you might be OK, but as usual, there is some debate: http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?p=442094

Note that there is a link to the actual law buried in there.
