Might have been breaking the law...

Post by spud »

I do alot of city driving, and my job takes me all over Denton. Well at least once a day I have to drive through TWU and UNT.

Now, have I broken the law and need to stop and find a new way around the campuses? Or am I ok?

Thanks.

Streets and sidewalks, along with parking lots are not considered part of the "premises" of a school.

PC46.03 defines school premises as off limits and says to use the definition of premises found in PC46.035:
(3) "Premises" means a building or a portion of a building. The
term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk
or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.
Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

... except when a school activity is going on in the parking lot, street or sidewalk. :)
