Pearce Grip Extention Failure

Post by Cosmo 9 »

Last night when getting ready for bed I removed my t-shirt and started walking towards the night stand. I then reached back to remove my Kahr PM9 and as soon as I touched the grip... SPPPRRROOIINNG plastic parts are bouncing off the walls, I have several Golden Sabres in my hand and my wife is wanting to know what I'm throwing around the room.

I managed to find all the parts but decieded to just pop in the spare mag and fix it in the morning. This morning I find out that the extention will no longer stay on! I'm glad they come in packs of two.

Here's a tip for those of you who use these, taks a piece of 1000 grit sand paper and wet sand all of the edges before you install it. The one I just put on feels alot better than the one that flew off.

The moral of the story is; a spare mag is more that just extra rounds!!!!

Your are right cosmo. I remember the same thing happening at a Practical Shooters match. Ammo, spring, follower, stuff flying everywhere. We never did find all of it.
That is the one that taught me: One extra mag is no extra mags & 2 extra mags is one extra mag. It is not always about round count, sometimes it is equipment failure.

Well, almost the worst. I've seen it happen during recoil on CHL proficiency. Last time it was lady using a borrowed Beretta .380.

Cosmo, lemme know if ya need another. A guy gave me a 2-pack for my PM-9, but I've not popped for any more of Kahr's high-priced magazines!

Island Tactical has Kahr mags for $28-$29, rather than $45.

I bought 5 for my P45. It was a good transaction.

Saw a mag./finger extension on a Bersa .380 "give up" when the lady shooting it.. rested it on top of the 55 gal. drum she was behind.

If a pistol can "Throw Up", then this best describes what happened that day.

She did not have a spare mag. either (not good). We had a little chat about that.

I have a "Clinton era" 10 round mag. for my P-13 that has a plastic bottom designed to limit the number of rounds. Although it has never failed, it looks very suspicious to me, and I never use it while carrying.

While I don't have anything against extensions, make sure yours are "sturdy".

:smilelol5: What a visual! I have seen a floor plate extension pop off during a practice session and on top of my friend not having a spare mag.....his trying to gain footing on all of the rounds was humerous....almost looked Looney Tunes quality.

I have a couple of +2 extensions that I got fron CDNN for my Glocks that sit on top of the safe....they look like junk. I have thought a few times about adding extensions to my G26 mags and always decide against it.

I must admit that I was a "no extra mag" offender about half of the time before shooting IDPA.....now I have purchased more platforms for carrying magazines than holsters!

I have a Pearce grip on my Makarov, and it's great! I also have a pair of Pearce mag extenders for the Mak. I installed one of them, took a look, said, "nuh-uh, no way!", and promptly tossed them in a drawer. I absolutely wouldn't trust them to hold ammunition.

You should see someone drop a loaded magazine for a Colt SMG. You know those "snakes in a peanut can" gag gifts? Yeah, just like that, except 32 rounds of 9mm flying everywhere.
