1911 prices under 600 bucks

Post by Jbird5363 »

I'm wanting to know what's out there and for what price. I've found a nice American standard for 460 and ria for about 500. If you know where the 1911 beater deals are post them I want one on the cheap for plinking fun.

I was pleased with my first 1911, an "American Classic II".

(with upgraded stocks)

Of course, it didn't take long to flip it for a Colt.

If you go to the gun show (either in Pasadena or at the GRB, so long as it is the High Caliber Gun Show) you can pick up a RIA for much less than $500.

Bud's sells RIA's http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/adva ... /1/sort/5a

So does Centerfire Systems http://www.centerfiresystems.com/armscor.aspx

Did you know Rock Island pistols come with a lifetime warranty? They just replaced one guy's pistol that had 20,000 rounds through it. http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=88398

I believe I read today (on that same forum) that their slides are extruded.

I have a Springfield GI Champion that I paid $550 for at my local shop. It's a great pistol. I like the mid 70's Colt Combat Commander I just got a month ago better though. Springfield has a lifetime warranty as well.

You can buy the SA GI Stainless for $599.99 last I looked.
the parkerized version is much cheaper.

Why buy Filipino when SA is just a little more?

I bought my RIA 1911 for $379. GREAT gun!!! Everyone has their own opinion, but I fell in love with this 1911 and love to shoot it. Plan on "blinging" it up here soon as it was a stock gun.

Actually I paid $625 for it. The guy had the box, manual, etc. He took very good care of it. I really like this Colt.

if you want a new 1911 for under 600 and want a lot of features, go with a Taurus. Personally I hate those guns but there is a lot there for the money. If you want a GOOD gun, get a springer GI, but those a base model guns. Personally, I would save a few hundred more dollars and get a quality gun the first time out. BTW, you do get what you pay for in the 1911 world. Mose money does equal better quality, features and performance.

I agree. Unless you just like the GI model, save up a few hundred more and get a better 1911. Nice Kimbers, Springfields, and Colts can be had for under $1000.
