Austin area gun shops
I'm heading to Camp Mabry tomorrow morning to turn in some paperwork, and I should have some time to kill on the way home. Recommend a good gun shop or two in Austin or between Austin and Rosenberg to check out!
Re: Austin area gun shops
I have done a lot of business with GT Distributors. They have a great selection, and good service. You sound like military? They have special pricing for LEOs and military/retirees.

+ 1 on GT Distributors - http://www.gtdist.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also Austin Gun Liquidators is run by a couple of nice fellas and has good prices.
McBride's is the granddaddy of Austin gun shops and closest to Mabry. Prices aren't great, but selection is good for guns (ammo and accessories selection is OK).

I had completely forgotten about GT Distributors. I'm mainly looking for a place with big selection for window shopping. I probably won't buy anything...but who knows.
I know about GT's deal with Glock for military/LEO/etc. FWIW, Carroll's out in Wharton has the same deal for those of us in the Houston area.

GT has great prices on the stuff they carry. Their weakness is that they are first and foremost a LEO supply store, so they generally don't carry items that aren't approved (somewhere in their jurisdiction) for LEO usage.
Re: Austin area gun shops
GT's has a decent holster selection and a ton of guns.

I'm another one to recommend GT and Austin Gun Liquidators. Both are really good gun shops.

I've heard bad things about Guns Galore.
I grew up in Cove, and my Dad and I were regulars at Brock's. I was very sad to hear that Mr. Brock was out of business.
The pawn shops in Killeen used to be one of the best places to find good deals. Are they still that way?

I am not in a position to spend much money on firearms, so I don't get to visit many shops. I primarily visit GT for my firearm needs. They are always busy, just be prepared for that. But they are always helpful.
Reds pflugerville has a great selection as well, plus an indoor range with gun rental if you want to shoot while you are there.
