As a plug for anyone thinking about this, my first 1911 was a 5 inch 1911A1 Rock Island just like this one. It fed everything I've put in it, is more accurate than me, and has never had so much as a hiccup. For someone looking to get into 1911s without breaking the bank, this is the way to go! :tiphat:

I'll get there. I'm just determined not to rush into it like I did with my first AR - which I sold a year later at a slight loss to raise money to build the one I really wanted but just didn't know I wanted when I bought the first one.

I've been close about 5 times to buying a 1911 but just not quite yet. I think I've narrowed it down to a full-size 5-inch all-steel gun (as JMB intended), but probably want more upgrades than I initially thought I would. Liking everything about the STI Spartan except the giant SPARTAN engraved on the slide :grumble Also seriously contemplating a stainless Springfield or even Colt at some point. And of course, I know that once I buy the 5-inch all steel 1911 I'll have to get an aluminum frame 3-inch baby brother model to go with it.

Anyone want to buy a house so I can buy a pair of 1911s?
