JCarp was my nickname in high school and college. It's my first initial and the first 4 letters of my last name. The 02 is the year I graduated from Texas A&M. Whoop!

But what if you come to your senses and trade that Glock in for a 1911?...will you change your username?

I was a photographer (in the business, we're called "shooters," not "photogs" or "paparazzi") for the Palm Beach Post back when I lived in Florida. Now I'm back in the great state of Texas (Houston), where I was born. And I plan on being buried hereabouts.

My user name comes from a slang term used in the United States Army for a Sergeant Major. While I did retire as a Sergeant Major - that is not really where my user name comes from. Once upon a time in a battalion far, far away while I was a first sergeant, the Brigade Command Sergeant Major was inspecting my company and during the inspection I inadvertently called the CSM “semage”. Boy, did he go off on me! Anyway, the nickname stuck and I use it quite a lot - I just had to find a different way to spell it. We even named our sailboat “Se’Maj”.

Warhorse was my highschool mascot and I ran a 10.9 sec 100 meter dash.

I'm a huge Alabama fan, graduating from there with a bull in Geology and also a M.S. in Geophysics. Our war-cry is Roll Tide, and now I've lived in Texas since 2003. And to be a bit truthful, I love incorporating a good Roll Tide while associating with Texas folks (UT) because of us winning the 2009 National Championship!

If you watch any ESPN, you may have seen their "Roll Tide" commercial. People joke about it, but you wouldn't believe how close to the truth it is back in Alabama!! Here's the commercial:
