Shucks!

Post by Jbird5363 »

So I'm in target shopping with the wife and her best friend. 5 ft in to the store my belt breaks and I'm rocking the full size 1911 so my pants start heading south. Now I'm holding my pants looking at belts feeling a little goofy. So I now realize I have to figure out wich one will fit with the 1911 but without flashing the whole world my gun. I finally got it figured out bought the dadgum thing and get out to the car and can't get the plastic stuff off the buckle. I manage to get it off by inserting my car key in the plastic and twisting tell it broke. Finally got it on, geez that was an ordeal. Thought y'all could use a laugh my wife and her best friend were cracking up at me.

Sure did!

You might get your wife and friend laughing again on another occasion too unless you make the small but worthwhile investment in a good gun belt that's designed to stand up under the added stress the gun and spare ammo put on the belt. I sorta doubt a belt you found in Target will continue to meet that requirement over time.

:iagree: A good belt is just as important if not more important than a good holster.

+1 on a good belt.

I have the comp-tac belts and need to buy a new one because I've lost a lot of weight. So I'll probably be posting the 2 comp-tac belts (size 40) plus 2 wilderness tactical operator belts (43) up for sale soon.

Jbird, If your interested in any of these PM me.

So the belt is an issue, by added to that: Why did you need a key, don't carry a knife as well??

You should absolutely get a belt designed to carry the weight of your gun.

I learned this the hard way. Being the cheap...er, frugal person that I am, I never liked to pay more than $20 for a belt. Prior to getting my CHL that was fine. When I got my CHL I saw people on the forum talking about a good gun belt but paid them no heed. After all, why would I pay $60-80 for a belt?

After going through four $20 belts in my first year with a CHL, I decided to spring for a quality gun belt. I wish I had done it sooner. It makes all the difference.
