I truthfully don't see this round as being a good idea. Three projectiles tethered together are not going to be accurate and could become a liability both in the legal system AND in a fight. The potential for the tether(s) to fail permitting all three projectiles to go whacky and hit random people is only one reason I see this as a bad idea.

The army tried something like this during WWII. They had some shot shells loaded with 00 buck strung together like a string of pearls. The idea was to use it as an anti paratrooper round. In theory the shell would spread wide enough to cut a large hole in the canopy causing rapid descent resulting in death or injury to the paratrooper. It didn't work the tether kept breaking. Also, the spread of the shot wasn't enough to damage a parachute badly enough to cause a hazard. The whole idea was dumped.

i'm having a hard time believing that their computer-generated simulations show what this bullet will do when actually fired. i'd like to see a real round fired and captured on high speed camera so they can slow it down and show the bullet's flight path. i'd also like to see what a crosswind does to its trajectory. if fired at close range i think it would be fairly accurate, but beyond that i'd prefer my JPHs. i don't see these catching on at all.

For me, it depends on what they do to the paper targets. If the main hole is still where I aimed, then I could see having a few at the top of the magazine being real handy if you're shooting a moving target.

I'd worry that it might just scratch while it temporarily anchored in the bad guy, then sling around and hit others after it pulled the light weight piece out of the bad guy. And yeah, I'd worry the tethers will break too.

I'm sticking to "time tested and proven" ammo for defense.

The manufacturing quality controls would have to be astronomical and surely cost prohibitive. If one of the attachment cables is even the slightest bit longer or shorter the whole thing will be horribly destabilized. Bullet manufacturers strive for perfect concentricity with their product and acknowledge that the slightest bulge or variance in weight distribution will cause the bullet to not fly true. Its hard to keep it perfect with a small diameter bullet and will be impossible when this thing expands to its full width. Not to mention that they have to expand and pull their tethers tight at exactly the same moment. If one gets to the end too early it will pull the whole thing wonky in a big way. If you think balancing your ceiling fan is difficult imagine what would be involved getting this stupid thing working right.

Even if these things ever worked right I would never use them and if they ever got it working they would cost $200 a round at the least. Nice try though. For every good idea that makes it there are thousands that don't and thats the origin of the saying...1% inspiration and 99% persperation....

Looks to me like they are reinventing "chain shot" which was used back in the black powder days of wooden ships and iron men. The concept was that you fired a projectile that consisted of two heavy parts connected by a chain, and as it whirled through the air it would tear up the opposing ships' rigging. Obviously not highly accurate and specifically designed to be used at close range, it was rarely used against personnel as grapeshot and cannister shot were much more effective for that.

Anybody going to take on a full rigged schooner with a handgun?
