** CLOSED ***Bulk Buy from Powder Valley

Post by Griz44 »

All,
I am in the Austin (Round Rock) area.
Several times a year, I do a bulk buy of reloading supplies to either Powder Valley or Grafs (I have a business account)
I will be placing an order at the end of next week.
Getting several folks together and placing the order as a bulk saves a bunch on shipping and hazmat.
The last order I placed (5 of us) brought the hazmat fee down to less that .50 per pound and the shipping down to less than .28 per pound.
I will put a list on my website that will assemble the order and show the fee for each part and track the order once it is placed.
Since Powder valley has primers for $20 per 1k now, and I am running short on primers, I will be placing the order with them.
If anyone wants to camp onto this order, please PM me or send an e-mail.
I prefer you pay for it in advance, as I am taking no markup on this, just trying to save some $ on shipping and hazmat for my personal reloading.
Look at Powder Valleys website and send a list of what you need, I will factor in the freight and hazmat based on the total poundage and the % of weight of your part.
You will only pay for the part that is yours.
When it comes in, we can meet here at my house or maybe all get together for a breakfast taco somewhere and split it up.

Powder Valley is running a special this month on Tula primers. If you buy 10,000 or more, shipping and hazmat is free. Plus, you add up to an additional 40# of other product under the same free shipping/hazmat.

That works great if you want 10,000 Tula primers.
I have never shot Tula, and really don't feel like being the guinea pig for that many primers.
But if everyone else wants to pool up and order them - I'll still be glad to handle the group buy, and get my Wolfs shipped free!

Tula is the same as Wolf. Manufactured in the same factory and imported under a different brand name.

DC,
I would like to get the order out by next weekend.

Brian,
Tula is the same as Wolf.
Ok, so loan me a few hundred and after I see how they run in my press, maybe I'll stock up. Until then, I'll stick with what I know runs good in the press and goes bang every time.
Seems to me that PV is trying really hard to get rid of them. Does that concern anyone but me?
If so many here think they are so great, someone place an order for 10K of them and I'll jump in on your order for a thousand and see how they work.
So I'm paranoid, that doesn't mean they aren't really out to get me does it?

I'm not telling you to buy Tula primers. I'm sorry if you took it that way. I was just passing along the information in case you or others were interested.

I have not tried these myself yet either. I have done some research (Google) on them and have not read any negative feedback. I've been wanting to make a purchase, but, like you, don't want to buy 10k primers at one time.

I didn't take it that way Brian. I was just trying to be funny.
Since we are going ahead with this order, why not jump on for a thousand of them and find out.
I am going to add a box of them to my order, just not 10K worth.

Thanks, I would if I were in your area, but I'm up in Dallas, and won't likely be down in the Austin area any time soon.

Just my own experience, for what it's worth. I have loaded probably 30,000 Wolf and Tula primers in the past 12 months. I had no problems with them at all except a few did not seat well in some military brass where apparently I had not swaged the primer pocket sufficiently. Other military brass worked just fine, and all the previously reloaded military brass worked fine. Have not had a single failure to fire in the whole lot. Oh, when I started buying the Wolf I was getting them for around $18 per K. I think the low prices are because the Russkies want US dollars. Seems the Chinese have been getting most of them lately, but that's another story.

If you want to try the Tula primer deal, I could probably go in significantly on them, for 5000 of the .223 primers. If you can get enough takers to make up the other 5000, we can get rid of hazmat and shipping costs altogether.

All,
I have been up to my eyeballs in work the last few days.
The list is posted, all should have links to it.
There is one more add that I need to make, and we will be ready to send it out.
I will try and get with everyone on Saturday and get settled up.
Right now we are at 46#, so the order is a full success!
I will get the adjustments made tonight and get all the final notices out.

Bill
