Austin Area CHL Training

Post by KickABuck »

Hello,

I'm looking for CHL training in the Austin area. Cabela's seems like the best deal at $75.00, however I can't do a Saturday training at the moment. I've got two questions..

1. Anyone know of local training that happens other than Saturday?
2. Why is it that Cabela's can charge $75.00 and others charge upwards of $150.00 (Reds Indoor range)

Thanks,

Guessing ... Cabelas wants you to buy a gun and ammo from Cabelas, so they have cheaper class, whereas other chl instructors may not be in the gun-n-ammo sales business

Mine was about $100 between Burnet and Bertram

KickaBuck, I teach classes in the area. My "day job" (Realtor) gives me some added flexibility as far as scheduling goes. Send me a PM or email and let's see if we can set something up for you.

KickaBuck - you have to look closely at the low cost CHL classes to see what they include. Most of those include none of the other things you need to get the license. Range fee, photos, fingerprints, CHL-16 book of CHL laws, applications, notary, etc. All those can quickly add up to more than the cost of the higher priced classes that included all those things without you having to run all over gathering those things together.

That was true for a long time, but now DPS doesn't accept ink fingerprints from instructors, and I think the online application doesn't require a notary.
