Glenn Beck To END SHOW!

Re: Glenn Beck To END SHOW!
For me personally, it is GB's personality and style. I agree with most of what he says...but his delivery grates on me. On the flip side, I LOVE Michael Savage. That man speaks the truth and I could listen to him all day. I've gotten on the show a few times (yeah, I get bored sitting in traffic and I call) and he's always fun to chat with. Even if I disagree with stuff he has said.

I too could not stand the guy.
It always sounded to me like he just like to hear the sound of his own voice. And I lump Hannity in with him.
See ya.Any reason that you omitted O'Reilly?

TDDude wrote:I've been listening to conservative radio hosts since Rush Limbaugh came to KLBJ AM in Austin in the 80's.
Back then, I noticed a few things about Rush and his show:
1. It seemed like I was listening to my Dad and that was weird.
2. No one, and I mean no one, ever contradicted anything he said.
3. Everyone who attacked him attacked his personality or his delivery style and not the message and it's still that way today.
4. KLBJ was owned by Lady Bird Johnson, wife of the late LBJ. Huge democrat family. BUT the RL show was the top rated show that KLBJ had and since it was making money, hey, hey!!
5. At the time, KLBJ had loads of liberal shows and the newscasts definately had a liberal bias but it was Rush that paid the bills.
It's been the same way with all those who followed in Rush's footsteps. Conservative talk guys are all labeled as "Conspiracy Theorists", "Hate Mongers", "Homophobes" and the list goes on. No one ever takes to task the content of the messages; only the style.
There are some I don't care to listen to because their style grates on my nerves. Michael Savage comes to mind. I really don't like listening to him because of his style but I can't ever say I've heard him say something that wasn't accurate. His conclusions sometimes I don't agree with but the facts are always right on.
I saw the Beck story on Drudge and GB isn't going anywhere. His current contract is up soon so naturally the media plays it like he's getting fired. He will probably just go into some other area with Fox and if he ends up leaving Fox, it will probably be because he got a better offer doing something else.

I have often thought that Rush rarely has real callers; that they are mostly shills.

Re: Glenn Beck To END SHOW!
Apparently Beck wasn't lacking for ratings or advertisers. According to this article his show is the third highest rated cable TV news show (although I would quibble with the label "news" for all of those types of shows - O'Reilly, Hannity, Olberman, O'Donnell, etc. - none of them are news shows - nor is Stewart or Colbert.)

I agree that the label "news" is not accurate. I refer to such programs as "infotainment."

I am not repeating Beck or referring to anything he has said.74novaman wrote: I don't like Obamas policies, I think he and the dems are hurting the nation and putting us on an unsustainable road to failure with their ideas and policies, but I don't hate any of them. My personal belief is that the economy will fail and no one in Washington from either party can prevent it. There are too many factors at work and the bailouts have just postponed it. The U.S. will survive and may even come out better, but there are real hard times ahead.
I watched one or two of Beck’s TV shows and didn’t even know he had a radio show. I don’t care much one way or the other about him.
God Bless America, and please hurry.

Re: Glenn Beck To END SHOW!
The TV show is just one of Beck's many enterprises. I understand he will still do specials for Fox. That said, his company is into all sorts of media. He has his radio show, Glenn Beck.com, The Blaze (a Huffington Post type site), books, stage shows, etc. Beck is simply freeing up his time IMHO, and I'll bet will make more money by doing so.
Now as to whether you believe what he has said over the years is true or not, I have to ask, "Did you follow his plea given during every show?" He has daily begged his audience NOT to believe what he says, but to "look it up for yourself." To his detractors, I must ask, "Did you?" I'll bet most, if not all, did not. Sure, he is "over the top" at times, but so are all commentators from across the political spectrum. But he has been very far ahead in his predictions and warnings. He and his research staff DO expose what the MSM will not. Is he ever wrong? Sure, but more often than not he is dead on. So, let the left giggle with delight, but it won't make any difference, as GB will do just fine.

Re: Glenn Beck To END SHOW!

I heard the same things. The contract for the show is expiring but he is working out another undisclosed project with fox. He did say one thing that liberals will be praying for the days of the beck show once the new project is in effect. Beck can be a little crazy at time but I found that kind of entertaining. Like any other news opinion show you have to take it with a grain a salt, read the data, and form your own opinion. No celebrity or tv personality should ever be followed blindly.
That being said I have never found him to be evil or racist. Just eccentric. Most of the venom seems to come from msnbc. I try to be fair and listen to their side but I can only handle it in small doses. Overall I have found his message to be one of caring about your community and family. To protect what you most cherish and be prepare for any situation. Such as the boy scout motto. (Sorry can't help it I was a eagle scout)
