Hi just joined

Post by T Bone »

Hey Guys,

I just joined here. I moved down from Canada to Texas and as soon as I received my green card, I picked up a Sig 229 40 S&W and a Ruger LCP. My CHL application is in!

I must admit, I need to really adjust to how people think about firearms here. In Canada, you need a special permit to carry a firearm from your house to the range. Now I am reading up on whether I should carry my Sig in a roadmap from TX to OK.....

I look forward to being on this board!

If you're going to travel between states by highway with a gun, there are a couple of websites that will be useful to you:

http://www.handgunlaw.us
http://www.carryconcealed.net/packngo

Lots of good information there. I like the second one better myself, but I've used both sites.

I carried my Sig on a trip from Texas to North Carolina. Kept in a seat holster while driving and put it in my IWB holster whenever I had to leave the car. All you have to do is bone up on the laws for each state so you are aware of where you cannot carry.

Welcome from another Canadian. Once you get you CHL, you can carry here in TX and in OK. Just read where you can not carry in OK. BTW, you do not need a licenses or permit to take your firearms to the range nor keeoing n your car.

Welcome again.

adjust to how people think
Yeah, I have a friend in Canada and I like to ask if I visit if I'd need a permit to take my bowling ball to the bowling alley, tennis racquet to the court, golf clubs to the big green grassy area with the gopher holes in the lawn, gun to the firing range, football to the field  (sporting equipment to the place it's used)

After you have been here a while, consider US Citizenship. My wife is a legal immigrant and it is just better here.

TBone:

Welcome sir to Texas and the CHL experience.

Thanks for sharing the guns you own with us. Usually I have to pry it out of the new guys. :-)

By the way, it would behoove you to go to the UCP (User Control Panel) of this board and enter
your new Texas hometown. That way, the forum members in your area will recognize you as a
neighbor.

That's right you're not from Texas,
